The Return of In-Person Initiation
Because Zoom Can’t Smudge a Soul
For a while, we did what we had to do.
We met in digital temples. We cast circles from living rooms. We lit candles in front of webcams and tried to find sacred space in a world that felt anything but sacred.
And we did it out of necessity.
We survived a pandemic. We kept the thread of the Work alive. We gathered across time zones and made the best of it. But now?
Now something's shifting.
And the bones are calling us back to center.
π₯ Initiation Was Never Meant to Be Comfortable
Initiation isn’t convenient. It’s not supposed to be.
It’s not something you “fit in” between errands or during your lunch break. It’s not a link you click or a box you check to get your next spiritual merit badge.
Initiation is sacrifice.
It is preparation. Intention. Embodiment.
It is showing up when you don’t feel ready, and being transformed because you did anyway.
It’s sweating by firelight.
It’s your knees in the dirt.
It’s the silence before the blindfold is removed, when your entire body hums with truth you haven’t yet spoken.
And that… can’t happen on a screen.
π―️ Why We’re Coming Back
Because we’re tired of floating.
Because there’s only so far you can go without touch — without voice, breath, energy in the room that isn’t compressed into pixels and buffering delays.
Because real initiation is not information.
It’s not intellectual.
It’s visceral.
You’re not just learning something.
You’re dying to something.
You’re becoming something else — and someone has to witness that.
We’re coming back to in-person initiation because the Craft demands it.
Because tradition requires it.
Because our ancestors did not cross oceans and firelight to hand you a lineage in a PDF.
π What Was Lost in the Distance
We lost the weight of presence.
We lost the trembling hands, the sacred pause, the moment where you realize you are not alone and never have been.
We lost:
-
The silence before your name is spoken anew
-
The smell of burning herbs carried by wind, not fan
-
The circle that closes with your body inside it
-
The moment the cords are tied, the oil is pressed to your skin, and you know — know — that something has changed
And now we want it back.
Not for nostalgia.
For integrity.
π️ It’s Not About Elitism. It’s About Energy.
Let’s be clear: This isn’t about gatekeeping.
It’s about guardianship.
Some knowledge can be shared in books.
Some practices can be adapted for long distance.
But initiation is energetic transmission, and that doesn’t travel well through cable.
There are things that must be felt, not just learned.
There are mysteries that must be experienced, not just observed.
And there is power that only rises when we show up fully — body, mind, spirit, and will.
πΎ If You’re Feeling the Call…
Don’t ignore it.
If you’re yearning for something deeper, if you’ve done the self-study, walked alone, read every damn book, and still feel like something’s missing — it’s because there’s a threshold you cannot cross without community.
There’s a place beyond self-initiation.
And it doesn’t mean giving up your power — it means claiming it in full view.
Find the elders. Find the covens. Find the circles that don’t care about follower count and do care if your feet are planted and your eyes are clear.
Ask the hard questions.
Do the shadow work.
Get uncomfortable.
And then, when the time is right — step forward.
We’ll be waiting with the fire lit.
